Garena recently announced the information of the upcoming Free Fire World Series to be held on May 2022. The FFWS was originally planned for November 2021 but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the plan was dropped.
In a press conference, Garena revealed the information about the FFWS 2022 event.
Information of Free Fire World Series 2022
The play-ins of the Free Fire World Series (FFWS) will happen on 14 May, and only the TOP teams who qualify for the finals will play on 20 May 2022. As we all know, The Free Fire World Series is the most awaited and also the most-watched Esports tournament in the world.
Garena also revealed that the qualifiers will be held in multiple regions but More information about this event isn’t revealed yet. It is expected to be announced after the end of the Free Fire Asia Championship 2021 and EMEA Invitational 2021, But like the previous Free Fire World Series, this might be an offline event as well.
FFWS 2021 Overview
The last FFWS was held in Singapore in May 2021 that had a prize pool of $2 Million. The winner of the tournament was a team from Thailand- Team Phoenix Force. Indian Teams weren’t able to present in the FFWS because of travel restrictions in the COVID time.
It had a peak viewership of 5.4 Million on all platforms, making it the most-watched esports event in the world. According to Esports charts, The average number of viewers was 2,087,460.
Right Now, Free Fire Asia Championship and Free Fire EMEA Invitational were announced in the place of FFWS 2021. The play-ins for both the events will be held on 19 November & 20 November, and only invited teams will play in the event. The EMEA Invitational finals will be held on 27 November, while FFAC 2021 finals will be on 28 November 2021.
